We are looking for a Legal Specialist to eventually take full ownership of BuildNow’s legal & regulatory compliance, managing intellectual property protection, finance and repayment compliance, dispute resolution and risk management. This role is perfect for someone looking to gain experience in taking on multiple areas, a passion for challenges while delivering positive outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

Legal & Regulatory Compliance:

• Ensure the company’s compliance with Saudi Arabian financial regulations, guidelines, and fintech industry legal frameworks.
• Monitor and interpret new laws, regulations, and policies that impact BNPL services and financial transactions.
• Develop and implement internal policies and procedures to maintain legal and regulatory compliance.
• Handle corporate governance, including drafting and reviewing contracts, shareholder agreements, and company policies.

Intellectual Property Protection:

• Oversee the protection of trademarks, patents, copyrights, and trade secrets related to the fintech platform and proprietary technology.
• Manage any IP-related disputes, registrations, and legal filings to safeguard the company’s assets.

Finance & Repayments Compliance:

• Ensure all financial transactions, loan agreements, repayment structures, and lending practices adhere to legal and regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate with finance teams to mitigate risks associated with late payments, defaults, and credit policies.
• Work closely with external auditors, regulatory bodies, and representatives to ensure seamless financial compliance.

Employment & Labor Law Compliance:

• Advise the company on employment contracts, labor disputes, and HR policies in compliance with Saudi labor laws.
• Ensure proper handling of employee benefits, terminations, and workplace policies while minimising legal risks.
• Mediate employer-employee disputes and ensure fair workplace practices.

Dispute Resolution & Risk Management:

• Handle legal disputes, arbitration, and negotiations related to financial transactions, vendor agreements, and customer repayments.
• Identify potential legal risks and liabilities, proposing risk-mitigation strategies.
• Represent the company in regulatory filings, investigations, and court proceedings when necessary.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Law (LLB, LLM, or equivalent). A specialisation in financial law, fintech, or corporate law is a plus.
• 2-3 years of experience in legal, regulatory, or compliance roles, preferably in fintech, banking, or financial services.
• Strong understanding of Saudi financial regulations, SAMA compliance, and labor laws.
• Experience handling intellectual property protection and contract negotiations is beneficial but not essential.
• Ability to interpret and apply BNPL-specific regulations and risk management strategies.
• Exceptional negotiation, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Fluent in Arabic and English (both written and spoken).
